Pattern and Pattern Message

I cannot quite figure out what pattern and pattern message are referring to.

Can you explain this to me so that I can use these for items such as phone numbers.

Dates is another item that would be nice to have addressed.

Hello,

You can place any regular expression in pattern field and user have to fill the data in that format. Like if I place "a.*z" , it means enter any string which starts with a and ends with z. Patter message will be helpful for users to understand what to enter in that field.

We are giving date picker field in our next release very soon.

Thank you

Thank you for the answer. That is the same as what is in the system.

That does not help me nor answer my question.

I want phone numbers to be entered as phone numbers with dashes (123-123-1234) for example. How do I enter this?

What are the place holders that the pattern uses?

A for letters? @ for letters? 9 for numbers?

That is the information that I am looking for.

Thanks Again.

Hello,

You can place xxx-xxx-xxxx in placeholder and [0-9]{3}-[0-9]{3}-[0-9]{4} in pattern field. You can write a proper message in Pattern Message, so that user will be able to understand.

Please let me know if you if you have any other query.

Thank you
